Lebo has made a significant investment in the sport of fishing over the last few years. The Lebo City Lake was re-opened to fisherman in May of 2000. You may obtain a license from City Hall
and Lebo Lumber Monday-Friday from 8:00 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. On weekends
and evenings, you will have to venture to the D & S Service
Station at 3rd and Ogden or at Kwik Stop near the
I-35 off ramp. Another option is to visit the Sundance Bait
Shop 3 miles north of Lebo near the Sundance Boat Ramp at
Melvern Lake.
Permits may be obtained from them any day of the week. Annual fishing/boating permit:
$6.00 15 years of age and
under - $12.00 16 years of age and over
We would like to ask and remind all fishermen & women to please clean up their
area after fishing as to keep our lake as beautiful as it was when you arrived.
Thank you!
LEBO PARKS Lebo has three parks dedicated to family fun,
relaxation and sports. Lebo parks offer families
an opportunity to gather to relax, play or hold
events. The Jones Youth Park on the north side of town offers two ball diamonds, tennis courts, a basketball court, the Lebo Wolves home football field and a refreshment stand that is open during most athletic events.
The Ye Olde City Park on the west end of town provides fishing for youngsters as well as an extra ball diamond and a large shelter house equipped for all your picnicking needs. Play equipment provides entertainment for the youngsters as well as a U.S. Army tank displayed as a memorial to all local veterans.
A Kids Pond is available for a city
residents under the age of 16 or those over 65
to fish in year round free of charge with the
exception from February 1 - April 30th during
trout season. Trout are added to the pond as a
fun bonus and allows ANYONE to fish with a legal
permit.
An annual tournament is held
each March in honor of one of the city's
well-known fisherman. The Odean Sergeant
Memorial Tournament is held in his memory due to
all the years of volunteerism Odean gave to the
city running the tournament. One of his dearest
friends, James Lewis is also honored on this day
by awarding the best "Fisherman" with a prize
from his family.
The Harold
"Skinny" Spatz Memorial Park In 2001, a new shelter house was erected in the southern part of the city. It was designed to accommodate family gatherings. Along with restroom facilities, it provides shelter from the seasons but yet opens to the outside to bring in the nice weather!
The land was donated to the city by Caroline
Busboom, who eventually married Bob Spatz the
brother of Skinny. Therefore the park was
honorably named after the local World War II
hero from Lebo. "Skinny" was one of the
pilots who flew in the Doolittle Raid and lost
his life while imprisoned by the Japanese.
The City Pool is a great place to cool off in the summer months. The pool opens a little before school gets out and closes a month after school starts up in the fall. The pool also includes Aquacise classes.
